For nearly 30 years, the Community Health Promoters training center has prepared young people in Myanmar for service as medical missionaries, equipping them with practical healthcare skills and biblical training before they serve communities with limited access to healthcare.

To meet the growing need, ASAP Ministries plans to construct a new girls' dormitory to replace an aging facility that is no longer safe or adequate for the number of students seeking training.

Expected to be completed in early 2027, this project will allow more young women to prepare for lives of service, bringing healing, hope, and the love of Jesus to underserved communities across Myanmar.

Naw Say Paw

Naw Say Paw grew up in poverty, but she dreamed of becoming a nurse aide.

In 2016, she enrolled in the six-month Adventist health training program. She came only to learn medical skills and not because it was religious.

But the program included daily worship and Bible study. As she learned about Jesus and studied Scripture, her heart began to change.

After graduation, she continued working at an Adventist pharmacy, received further Bible studies, and was baptized in 2017.

Today, Naw Say Paw serves with ASAP Ministries as a medical missionary in Kalaw, Myanmar, where there is no Adventist church.

She now uses the health skills she received to care for minority communities and share the hope of Jesus.

This training did more than prepare Naw Say Paw for a career. It transformed her life—and now God is using her life to reach others.

Mission Projects Inc. (MPI) was founded in 1975 in Chiapas, southern Mexico, where the families of Elwin Norton and Darald Edwards established the Bella Vista Clinic and School. Since then, God has expanded the ministry to include projects throughout Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, the Philippines, and Thailand.

Our family has been working in the Philippines for over 20 years doing medical work and education. The needs are huge in Catanduanes, Philippines, a small island off the Southeast corner of the large island of Luzon with a population of 261,169 based on the 2024 census. Only about 1% of the people on the island claim Jesus as their Lord and savior. Most worship idols, spirits or nothing at all. Our contacts in Virac, the capital of Catanduanes are pleading for more help. The under served communities and schools have the most pressing needs. There is only a few government Physical Therapist on the whole island that we are aware of. The schools are asking for help, too, with young people with no hope.  We are raising means for the family to return and help this coming Summer. The plan is to help with the major health and education needs while we are there and research what else can be done to help. Please pray that God will provide the means and that we can find affordable tickets for the trip.

We have an opportunity for PRAYER, our driller wrote to our work group tonight because he is very discouraged. He says, “Today was a bad day. I was working with the cable machine in the Nueva Colorada village and the drilling hammer got stuck and I felt bad because now it's two machines that are passing by for a bad time” It is true, both of our drills are now stuck in wells and not serving the people we are here to serve. But we serve a God that is bigger than all our problems. Please pray for our driller, that this might strengthen his faith, and pray for all of us here in Guatemala that we might continue to effectively share living water.

A big problem that changed lives, that’s exactly what the importation of this bus was for us. Back in January we (the Lingenfelter family) were asked to drive this bus down to Guatemala. It will serve as lodging for our drillers in some of the more remote villages we work in. A bus is a good option here as they are well built and parts are available because they are widely used for transportation. But we have had months of delays and now the time was coming that we had to get it imported as the temporary permit was expiring. We contacted a company who we had been referred to and paid for the import. Nothing happened. Ten days went by, we got reports back but nothing happened. Finally Huberto, one of our workers who is a struggling Adventist, and I drove to the border where the import is processed and did some checking. The company we hired didn’t have an import license, was charging a much higher price and then was trying to hire an agent to complete the process. Once we met the agent and figured out what was happening she said what they did wasn't right. She called the company and told them they were being very unethical, and we should have them prosecuted. Within 20 minutes the money was fully refunded and by the next morning our bus was imported by this agent. But the amazing part was the impact on Huberto. He has gone around telling everyone we meet how the Lord is working on our behalf. And He has been singing hymns as he works. He even got another former Adventist, who works for one of the municipality’s, to sing with him on a recent two hour car ride to a remote village. My heart was singing too as I had a wonderful private gospel concert from the most unexpected people. What a reminder that our trials may be just be blessings waiting to happen.

Bible Study in South East Asia

We thank God for His blessings and for answering our prayers.

Last month, we shared that we are praying to start a ministry for Lao-speaking people. And God has already helped us take the first steps.

We have started house-to-house visitation. We visit families, build friendships, and look for opportunities to share God's love. During our visits, when some of them feel sick or tired, my wife offers a gentle massage and care. Please pray that the visits would help build trust and open doors for more opportunities to witness.

Two Lao-speaking church members also joined us. We heard that they had not been attending church because of a language barrier. We are thankful that they were able to come, and we are praying for them as we invite them to continue joining our worship. Please pray for this important ministry as we reach out to more Lao-speaking people. We sang songs in Lao and Thai, listened to testimonies, prayed together, and studied the Bible. The worship was mainly in the Lao language, with some Thai and a little English, since many of the young people also enjoy learning English. Because Lao and Thai are very similar, I praise God that my Thai language is still very useful here. Last Sabbath, I preached in Thai, and everyone was able to understand the message.

Before, some Lao people wanted to attend the Hmong church, but they could not understand the language well. Because of this, it was difficult for them to grow in their faith. Now they have a place where they can worship God and hear His Word in a language they understand.

By the grace of God, we believe this is the beginning of something wonderful. Please pray that this new home church will continue to grow and that many more Lao people will come to know Jesus.

1. That God will lead us to more people who want to study the Bible.

2. That more Lao families will join the home church.

3. That the young people will grow strong in their faith.

4. That God will give us wisdom and strength as we continue this ministry.

Please pray for our SULADS ministry among the Karen people in Maesot, Tak Province. There has been a malaria outbreak in the area, and several members of the community, Karen students especially are affected. Pray for God’s healing hand to be upon those who are sick, for strength and protection over the healthy, and for wisdom and resources for the caregivers especially Sulad Roger- our SULADS nurse.

May the Lord cover the mission with His mercy, stop the spread of the disease, and restore health and peace to everyone at Sunshine Orchard.

Baptism In A Closed Country

We praise God for the wonderful work He is doing through our faithful missionary, Sulad Thaivej, in the remote Village of a communist country. Despite the challenges of distance, limited access, and the reality of working in a communist country where Christian activities are often restricted, the Holy Spirit has moved powerfully among the people of this village. Sulad Thaivej is overjoyed to report that 9 precious souls have accepted Jesus Christ through baptism. This is a remarkable testimony of God’s grace at work in a difficult mission field. Please continue to uplift Sulad Thaivej in your prayers, that God may grant him wisdom, strength, and protection as he ministers under challenging conditions. Let us also pray earnestly for the new believers—that their faith may grow strong, that they may be rooted in the Word, and that they may become faithful witnesses of Jesus Christ in their community. Sometimes we encounter children who were born into or are living in difficult circumstances. Our hearts go out to them and we try to help as best we can.

The suffering and tragedy of this world causes us to look for and hasten the coming the Lord when the lion and lamb will lie down together and a little child will lead them.

By now you must know that we are a church planting ministry. What that really means is that we love working in communities introducing people to Jesus and seeing their lives transformed. The highlight is when people respond to the call of God by publicly committing their lives to Christ through baptism.

Just this past Sabbath, our evangelism director had the privilege of baptizing a young woman who had previously responded to an altar call at one of our evangelistic campaigns. What makes this extra special, is that this baptism is in one of our church plants in the new church that we contructed with the help of generous donors. Our team is always thrilled when the family of God grows!

These ten people in Costa Rica were thrilled to recently receive their very own Bible! We work in many communities, and through our church planters and also local pastors, meet many people who would like a Bible. We don't have enough Bibles to give everyone, but when a person has a special interest in spiritual things and would like to learn more about God, we will provide a Bible to them. By God's grace, and with the help of many partners, we've already distributed more than 15,000 Bibles across several Central American countries. Bibles in hands = touched lives.

Musaab* and Me

Musaab clicked on our add for Bible studies several months ago. Now he has twice hosted our student on mission trips and has brought them to speak to schools, villages, and even a madrasa. He is learning quickly and wrote me yesterday that he praises God for the chance to spend time with our youthful witnesses.

Termites and Needs

When we printed our Ministry of Healing books last year, we looked forward to putting them into thousands of homes.

But when I opened the storage to fetch some boxes for a canvassing campaign, I was greeted by a distressing sight: termites had attacked the inventory. Boxes were falling apart and books had tunnels and pits and termite scat.

I began the laborious process of cleaning the covers and sorting out the damaged ones, and killing termites.

While I was working, a local man stopped to ask me what I was doing. I explained that "poka" (Bangla for "bugs") had caused havoc.

Now please understand that giving a Christian book to a Muslim is not always easy. Individuals are suspicious. Why would you give it for free? What is your agenda?

But when I said to my Inquisitor that I could not sell these damaged books and asked if he would like one of them, he gladly took it.

And that pattern continued over and over! The blessed Termites made it easy to give away books. And the poka had not eaten deep into the books, so only the margin was corrupted. The legible part was potent still.

So I thank God for the "poka."

Our team recently finished a multi week health outreach effort among the indigenous people for whom we labor. It was incredible to see God touch the lives of countless families, children and adults as they learned principles of hygiene, proper eating, drinking, rest and so much more.

Our missionaries took the time to also train and equip local volunteers to assist them in these health outreaches. The district pastor and his wife also helped us.

Our missionary effort among the poor and needy is only possible because of your prayers and support.

Melissa Das will be one of the first graduates of our mission training program. She wanted to attend a school of the prophets since before BE WELL existed, and since it started she has been a constant force to promote a knowledge of the present truth in Bangladesh. Recently she has accepted responsibility as the school registrar and youth camp coordinator, jobs reserved for capable and faithful persons of experience.

That’s the scene we’re chasing at Water for Life. We’re a crew of dreamers and doers, drilling wells to bring safe water to rural communities. It’s gritty work, but those smiles and giggles? I find myself asking that question as our team launches the Advent Impact website. What part do I play in bringing the suffering and pain here on earth to a close? Do I have something in my hand that I can use to make a difference in someone's life?

As we bring more ministries into the Advent Impact family, I get excited about what God has called us to create. Our prayer is that this platform will connect hearts to ministries in a way that engages us all in mission work in ways we never thought possible. As you may imagine, community work and church planting isn't always easy. It takes a lot of hard work, prayer and support from many individuals to really make an impact in people's lives. Each time we see the Holy Spirit work in a person's life, we're thrilled. When that person starts to respond to the Spirit of God and ultimately make a decision to commit their life to Christ, we are ecstatic.

This gentleman was one of several who committed their life to Christ at the conclusion of a campaign we conducted at one of our church plant sites recently. Not only is our team thrilled, but we understand that a few angels in heaven sang a very special song during his baptism. "There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents." Luke 15:10

Water for Life: A Closer Look at God’s Call to Bring Clean Water to the World

At Water for Life, we believe every drop of water tells a story—a story of hope, transformation, and God’s unending love for His creation. The Bible reminds us in Isaiah 41:17, “The poor and needy search for water, but there is none; their tongues are parched with thirst. But I the Lord will answer them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.” God’s heart beats for those in need, and He calls us, His people, to be His hands and feet in answering their cries. For millions around the world, access to clean water isn’t a given—it’s a daily struggle.

Contaminated water sources lead to illness, keep children out of school, and trap families in cycles of poverty. Yet, through the work of Water for Life, we see God moving, bringing wells and hope to villages that have prayed for change.

As Christians, we are called to reflect Christ’s love in practical ways. Jesus Himself said in Matthew 25:35, “For I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink.” Providing clean water is a tangible way to live out this command. At Water for Life, every well drilled is a declaration of God’s love and a step toward fulfilling the Great Commission. Clean water opens doors to share the Gospel, as communities see the love of Christ through the actions of His followers.

But the work is far from done. Over 700 million people worldwide still lack access to clean water, and God is calling us to respond.

Not only are we a church planting ministry, working at establishing new groups of believers where there are no churches, we also build churches. When funding allows, we look for opportunities to build churches to give congregations in Central America a place to gather and worship the Creator. At every Water for Life well dedication in Guatemala, people come for a bible. Here at a recent event two boys sat together, their eyes glued to a Bible they’d just received. People from surrounding villages had gathered, not just for the fresh water flowing from the new well, but for these cherished books. A gentle breeze stirred the dust as the wheels on the bus went round and round. The big yellow dental bus equipped with solar panels, dental chairs, equipment and volunteers rumbled into the small village nestled among rolling green hills. Children ran while giggling with anticipation at this unusual sight. You could see mothers and fathers peeked through doorways, and others waited with excitement shining in their eyes. From the bus door stepped volunteers—dentists, and helpers—greeted by grateful villagers eager for relief from their aching teeth and the simple joys that came with kind faces from faraway places. This is a huge event that most have never witnessed before.

Water for Life’s presence has already transformed the landscape. Thanks to donors who believed in providing clean water, a new well stood at the heart of the village, ensuring fresh water flowed year-round. With the well in place, the focus could shift to another vital need: accessible dental care.

Throughout the day, villagers lined up, talking quietly among themselves, relieved they would no longer suffer through nights of throbbing tooth pain. Children marveled at free toothbrushes, and mothers praised the gentle hands that eased their children’s fears. It was work well done as volunteers stepped off the bus, with big smiles despite long days that pass quickly, their hearts were full.

From One Child to an Entire Community: The Founder of Water for Life

Twenty years ago, Gary Bartholomew traveled to Guatemala with a heart full of hope and nervous excitement. He was there to finalize the adoption of a young girl, a child whose bright smile contrasted sharply with the harsh realities of her impoverished village. During the adoption process, He witnessed firsthand how difficult it was for families to access clean water, often relying on shallow, contaminated wells. This poignant experience marked the beginning of his life’s mission: to bring safe, sustainable water to the people of Guatemala.

In the early days, Gary worked from home and took them short annual trips, coordinating everything from fundraising to equipment purchases. It was a humble start, defined by long nights and countless sacrifices. He poured his time, talents, and treasures into what would eventually become Water for Life. He had a well drilling background in the USA, and an unwavering belief: every human being deserves clean water. If he had done nothing, the 50,000 people today who have clean, sustainable water would still be drinking from contaminated sources. As it has been said, "Faith without works is dead." Having faith in God to provide resources and open doors has opened his eyes and heart in many ways. This is another story of God coming to the aid of one, who in faith moves forward. As with any journey it was not without challenges. Teams of volunteers that were drilling wells faced tough terrain, faulty supplies and unpredictable weather. Funding was a concern, and setbacks easily threatened to stall progress. Still, Gary's vision of saving lives through clean water propelled him forward. He leaned on volunteers, fellow comrades in the well drilling industry, and local communities for support. In time, these partnerships blossomed into a network of advocates, donors, and technical experts who still believe in Water for Life’s potential.

Today, Water for Life stands as a testament to what determination and compassion can achieve. What began as a single act of love in an adoption has blossomed into a global initiative touching thousands of lives. Gary's story is one of unyielding generosity—giving time, talent, and treasure to ensure that children and families continue to have water for life!

Every day in the jungle of Guatemala women walk muddy trails, and dusty roads with their empty jugs, to seek muddy streams often a few miles away. They rise before dawn, travel mid day and afternoons with their children for decades. When they hear of an opportunity to have clean water, prayers for relief echo through these little homes, each voice longing for living water in more ways than one. When the new well arrives, it feels like an answer straight from heaven. What some might take for granted, they partake with gratitude. Clear, cool water flows giving strength and hope. During celebrations and days to follow families gather with laughter as children and adults alike taste fresh water for the first time. With hearts brimming with faith, they praise the Lord who always shows up, right on time.

For fifty years, families endured:

• Endless sickness

• Heartbreak

But a new well promises hope, turning despair into celebration. Children dance under the bright sun, picturing safe drinking water and radiant futures. Elderly faces soften with relief, knowing grandchildren will never share the same struggle. This precious gift restores health and unity. Collaboration truly makes the dream—and the team—work. At a recent well dedication, we witnessed how unified efforts can bring positive change. Gary received a letter of recommendation and a big “Thanks!” from the local government for this special project, which was different from our usual community-led initiative. Here, the government partnered with Water for Life to provide a desperately needed well, and officials were thrilled with the outcome. We’ve formed lasting friendships and partnerships that will continue to flourish, and we believe nothing done for good is ever wasted. We celebrate every opportunity to bring clean water—and the blessings it provides—to mothers, babies, and families for generations to come.

In the small Guatemalan village, the sound of laughter and prayer filled the air as families gathered around the newly drilled well. Men, women, children paused to offer their thanks to God during the dedication, blessing the fresh water for safe and abundant use. Leaders from Water for Life, the local village, and the Government were all moved with deep gratitude for this vital resource as well as the free bibles that were given. Although everyone was eager to fill their containers, no one dared lift a drop until the water was committed to the Lord with this dedication. After the ribbon is cut, and carefully given to each participant that was vital for this well to be drilled, the villagers drink, children and women first. They are all smiles.

The celebration was vibrant and reverent. Each dedication is different, however there is always an effort into decorating the water source. Joy seems to be in the breeze, bearing witness to the happiness that radiated from each face. We walked the winding path with a few children and an adult to the old, unclean water source. It was then we really understood the difference a new well will make. The half-mile trek through swampy terrain and cow pastures had proven challenging even without carrying heavy buckets. When the season is dry another source was over a mile away.

Clean water means fewer people will fall ill from contaminated water sources. Entire communities felt relief and renewed hope as gratitude poured forth for the countless hands and hearts that worked together to provide such a transformative gift.

The miracle at the well

Mrs. Selvarani, a Hindu, first came to the Attur Seventh-day Adventist Church in Tamil Nadu, India, with severe knee pain and a deep wound on her thumb that refused to heal. Despite trying various remedies, she had found no relief. We prayed earnestly for her during the church service, asking God for healing.

One day, a few of us decided to visit her home in the village of Selliyampalayam. Her faith was strong, and she trusted in the prayers. To our amazement, the wound on her thumb had healed completely, and her knee pain had disappeared. Mrs. Selvarani began walking to church every week, fully healed and full of joy, but the miracles didn’t stop there.

Mrs. Selvarani’s family depends on agriculture for their livelihood, and now they faced another challenge—the well in their yard had dried up completely, leaving their crops at risk, especially during the harsh summer month of May. Desperate, Mrs. Selvarani came to the church once again, requesting prayer. This time she brought a bottle of water and asked if we would pray over it. We prayed with faith, believing that God could provide water for their crops.

Mrs. Selvarani took that prayed-over water and poured it into the dry well. In what can only be described as a divine miracle, the dried-up well started to fill with water! Even during the peak of summer, the well provided enough water for their gardens to thrive, and they enjoyed an abundant harvest.

Filled with gratitude for the way God has moved in her life, Mrs. Selvarani has decided to fully give her life to Christ. She is preparing to be baptized, a decision that brings great joy to heaven and to all of us at the Attur Seventh-day Adventist Church. Please pray that Mrs. Selvarani’s family will also accept Jesus and follow Him.

A Step of Faith: Bringing Clean Water to Those in Need

Imagine walking 1, 2 or as much as 5 miles to fetch dirty water? With only one option families in Guatemala do what they have always done to survive. It’s a heartbreaking reality for many families around the world. But by God's grace, through the power of prayer, the generosity of donors, and the tireless effort of all involved, we’ve been able to bring new hope to these communities in Guatemala with a life-changing solution.

Thanks to a recent project, we've installed a new style of well pump that makes accessing clean water a reality for so many. It’s a joy to witness children, often accompanied by their parents, working together to draw fresh, clean water from a well that can be hundreds of feet deep. What once was a sometimes grueling task has now become something far easier—an incredible blessing in their daily lives.

This new water pump doesn't just bring access to clean water—it brings life. By providing a consistent source of safe water, we’re helping to reduce the spread of illness and lower mortality rates. In many ways, we’re witnessing a shift from the dread of long, exhausting walks to the smiles of children and families now able to drink freely without fear of sickness.

Health fairs are an important way for our team to get to know people and help them assess their health condition. We then provide information on how they can make simple lifestyle choices to improve their lives. This picture was from our first health fair of 2025. We had very good interest from the community and many contacts were made. At the end of the health fair, participants were asked what other community programs would interest them. Guess what the top two requests were? 1. Healthy cooking 2. Bible seminar.

On the front lines of mission work, in communities where there is no established church, our community bible workers aim to follow Christ's method. Come close to the people through poverty relief initiatives and tangible service. Help in the area of personal health. Then look for spiritual interests and begin Bible studies once trust is established. God continues to open up doors. Please keep our entire team in prayer this year as we continue to bring the light of God to spiritually dark homes and communities in Central America.
